TRAVEL ENTRY

Glasgow, Scotland - Evening Eruption - 23 August 2003

Posted by Edmond on Thursday, December 18, 2003 · Comments (0)

Glasgow looks like any other city in the UK by day, with the usual streets and people walking around. By night, Glasgow turns into something totally different with clubs and bars opening till late and people really partying hard. I was quite surprised by the amount of activity in the evening, but the downside was that I had to be on my guard at all times.

Background

If people have told you that Glasgow is just another boring city in the British Isles, then they are indeed very, very wrong. Although the city lacks the tourist attractions that Edinburgh boasts, once evening arrives, the city becomes literally a party town. Everywhere I looked, people were dressed up in their best clothes and slipping from bar to club and back again.

With the party atmosphere comes its drawbacks. Rowdy youths and drunks are common around the main city. The SPT undergound can also sometimes get a bit dodgy at times. But if you look out for yourself, then things should be fine.
