About Photobug
Who?
Hiya, Edmond here. I am Chinese, but was born and raised in Sydney. By day, I work as a Oracle and Unix Systems Administrator for an internet development company in Richmond, United Kingdom. Previously, I worked at Oracle Corporation Australia in early 2001 for nearly three years.
Purpose of Photobug?
To express what it is like being a "Stranger in a Strange Land". After working abroad for so long and leaving behind lots of friends, I feel like I have not found a permanent home and hope to express this through my photos. I hope to provide daily photo updates of places I have been and seen, and leaving a very brief description on each photo.
Favourites?
I try to some travelling and cycling when I get the chance. I have a keen interest in photography and design - something I regrettably abandoned in high-school as a creative arts student. I like listening to U2, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Live.
Photo and Stuff?
I use the Canon A20 Powershot for digital shots. But I still prefer experimenting with different types of film, lenses and shooting techniques with my Canon EOS 300V SLR camera. For photo-editing I use my Windows 98 PC and Gimp/Corel Photopaint. A USB Card Reader, Iomega USB CD-RW and Canon Scanner are connected to my PC to do all my photo uploads and archiving.
Site?
Photobug was built using Movable type for the content and pages. Graphics were drawn with Gimp and Corel Photopaint. I also maintain U2 Active a U2 fan site. And I should not forget Travellogger - where I use to share my travel ideas in the remote hope someone shares theirs - now not updated and probably never will be due to the huge amount of work in updating the site.
